Google decided to pay homage to Art Clokey by animating it's homepage with a Gumby-inspired Google doodle, by celebrating Gumby creator Art Clokey's 90th birthday.
Clokey, died in 2010, may not be well known in whole world - as we also didn't heard of him, - however the Detroit's animator shot to fame for his creation Gumby; the star of the Gumby show.
The show began in November 1955 and ran with for 35 years, before having a further boost in popularity in the 1980s when, the then very cool, Eddie Murphy impersonated him on Saturday Night Live.
Art Clokey's one more important work Gumbasia, an animation set to music which showed Walt Disney's Fantasia. The doodle itself was created by animator Anthony Scott who also worked on Coraline and the Corpse Bride.
